Why your business website isn’t bringing in enquiries

5 November 2026, 5 min read

A website can look great and still bring in very few enquiries. The cause usually falls into one of two groups: the right people aren’t finding it, or they’re finding it and not taking the next step.

Check which problem you have

Look at your analytics and Google Search Console:

  • Few visitors: this is mostly a visibility problem.
  • Plenty of visitors, few enquiries: this is mostly a problem with your message or the path to contact you.
  • Plenty of enquiries, but poor fit: your pages may be attracting the wrong audience.

If you don’t have any data, fix that first, because you’re otherwise guessing.

Common causes of low enquiries

It’s not clear what you do. A visitor should be able to tell within a few seconds what you offer, who it’s for and what to do next. Replace vague lines with specific ones.

It talks about you, not them. Describe the problem you solve and the result customers can expect.

It’s hard to act. Put a clear next step on every page, such as a quote form, phone number or booking link.

The form asks too much. Ask only what you need for the first reply.

It’s slow or awkward on a phone. Test on your own phone. Check that buttons are easy to tap and that the page loads quickly.

There’s nothing to build trust. Show your real business details, real people, and real reviews and examples if you have them. Never invent them.

One page tries to do everything. A separate page for each service gives you a better chance of matching what people search for.

Nobody answers. Check whether forms actually reach someone and how fast you reply. A broken form can go unnoticed for months.

A one-hour review

  1. Submit your own form and time the reply.
  2. Open your site on your phone and try to contact yourself.
  3. Ask someone outside the business what you do after looking at your homepage for ten seconds.
  4. Search for your main service and suburb on Google.
  5. Check Search Console for pages with errors.

Fix in this order

  1. Make sure forms and tracking work.
  2. Fix the homepage message.
  3. Add a clear next step throughout the site.
  4. Improve speed and mobile layout.
  5. Build service pages and useful guides for search.

You may not need a whole new website. Sometimes a few focused changes will do. If you do need one, we build fast, clear websites designed to turn visitors into enquiries.
